I know this time of year can get busy + stressful. So I’m keeping it short + sweet today.
If you find yourself cranky, irritable, sad, or overwhelmed by all you have to do (or all you feel you haven’t done yet), here is my Holiday De-Stress List.
You’ll be amazed at what picking one thing on this list will do for your mental + emotional state. Keep in mind, this isn’t about covering up your feelings with a happy face sticker, or stuffing down your emotions with extra slices of pie.

Whether it is a role, a relationship, a Range Rover, or a raving review of your work.
Deepak Chopra states,
”The purpose of life IS the expansion of happiness. Happiness is the goal of every other goal.”
And yet, throughout your day, do you ever notice how easy it is to pick things apart (including yourself), notice what’s not working, what you haven’t done yet + fixate on complaining about the big + even the little things?
I know I have.
So if our quest is to expand our happiness, why do we spend so much time feeling unhappy?
To understand ourselves, we have to become consciously aware of our thoughts, words, + habits. Then, we must learn how to shift them.
You might not even be aware that complaining has become your default mode of operation.
So what can you do to shift from finding fault to expanding your happiness?
The first step is to become more mindful.
The act of mindfulness will help train your subconscious mind to perceive + appreciate more of the amazing blessings, beauty + bounty that are in your life on a daily basis.

You might not want to hear it, but complaining is a chronic habit that ultimately keeps you stuck.
Have you ever tried to go through your entire day + not make one complaint? It’s not easy, right?
You might not even be aware of how often you complain, because it’s become so habitual. For many of us, complaining has become our standard mode of operation.
We complain the audition is taking too long.
We complain about the traffic.
We complain about the line at the grocery store.
Then we get together with our friends and when they start to complain, we chime in easily + add to it, until everyone is bonding over a big-warm-complaint-bonfire. (And I can’t say I haven’t been there. I have.)
So, here’s one simple way to get unstuck.
Become mindful of how often you complain + stop yourself in your tracks.

None of us are immune to feeling cranky. It happens.
We all have bad days, maybe even a few frustrating months, or for some Americans, an election that didn’t turn out the way they wanted.
I’m all for feeling your feelings, acknowledging your pain and your hurt. That is part of being human,
But at some point, whether it’s in regard to your acting career, your personal life or another’s political view, you have to find a way to shift from focusing from being critical to being compassionate (towards yourself + others). That’s when things begin to shift.
I’m going to leave the political debate for those on Facebook (P.S. it’s OK to take a break from that too)
And stick with inspiring and uplifting you, which is always my weekly intention.
