This quote stopped me in my tracks last week + I knew I had to share it with you.
“Unexpected kindness is the MOST POWERFUL, LEAST COSTLY AND MOST UNDERRATED agent of human change.”
As we head into the holidays, what if each and everyone of us began practicing unexpected kindness everywhere we went?
In the check out line at the grocery store, at the post office, in traffic, with our children, our spouses, our mates, our families, our relatives (even the ones you’re not so fond of) and ourselves.
In a consumer driven world that is constantly telling us we need to acquire more, bigger and better, what if we
gave more, bigger and better of ourselves? What if we all practiced unexpected kindness?
How could we change our community, the places we go, the people we touch and our own happiness?
And if you’re heading home for the holidays, instead of expecting to be triggered by old emotional wounds and having your defenses up, maybe make a mental note, to simply…practice unexpected kindness.
Ask yourself these 3 questions before speaking:
- Is what I’m saying kind?
- Is what I’m saying helpful?
- Is what I’m saying necessary?
As you begin to practice unexpected kindness (in action + words), sure, some people might be shocked, some might not be ready to receive your love and some might look at you and think you’re trying to get something. That’s okay. Do it anyway.
Do it, because what the world needs now, is love, sweet love.
Sending you love + gratitude every week as I write these blog posts, but an extra dose of love + gratitude right now, days before Thanksgiving in the U.S.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support I feel from all over the world, and for the sacred space we hold together as actors, on a creative path, learning about ourselves and opening our hearts + minds even more along the way.
I cherish and value you beyond words.
Love + Gratitude,
