Growing up as the daughter of a Navy veteran, I was taught to have immense gratitude for the freedoms that we so easily take for granted. Today is Memorial Day in the United States, which is a day to remember the sacrifices that brave men + woman made to bring freedom to this country. ❤

My late father was a World War II Air-Sea Rescue pilot who helped to save those who were shot down in the Pacific Ocean. He was a hero to many, and especially
to me. I lost him when I was 27.

When I would volunteer in my son's kindergarten class, I could barely get through The Pledge Of Allegiance without tearing up. Seeing a group of 5-year-olds
embody joy, love and freedom, so purely, always gave me hope for our future. 🥺

And my hope always seems to comes back to "liberty and justice for all."

So no matter where you are in the world, I hope you'll take a moment and give thanks for the freedoms you enjoy every day in your own life. 😊

Your freedom to think.
Your freedom to love.
Your freedom to choose.
Your freedom to live a joyous life.

I hope you'll continue to choose love over fear.

I hope you'll continue choose compassion over hate (towards yourself + others).

I hope you'll continue to be brave in your own life, as you celebrate all of the freedoms that you were born knowing.

I hope you'll honor those who made sacrifices, so you could live a better life.

I hope you'll give thanks today and every day for the freedom that rings within you and all around you.

Many people are focused on all they are going to DO for this year. List of goals, list of tasks, list of changes they want to make. ❤

But in the midst of your goal-planning, what if you asked yourself how you most want to FEEL + allowed that to be your standard of success?

So, one intention for me to have a successful year is for me to experience JOY. 💖

The fun part is not waiting to hit another milestone in my career to feel it but to find ways to feel joyful every single day. ✨

Happy Mother’s Day! 🌺 I hope you have been enjoying a wonderful weekend, whether you are a mom, celebrating your own mom and/or those who have been like a mother to you.

And if you are missing your mother, know that my heart is with you, as well. ❤️

My mom passed away 15 years ago today. (Yes among being many amazing things, she was in fact, The Romper Room Lady) She last saw my oldest son when he was just 16 months old (he’s 16 now), and he never met my younger son, who is now 13.

And yet spending time, planting new seeds and new plants in our garden with my kids today, reminded me of the seasons of life and what a blessing it is to experience them.

Here’s to making the most of them all. And knowing you can miss someone dearly and still find joy in the present moment. Here’s to allowing nature to show you the way. 🍃🥬🍀🌺
