The Daily Practice That Will Make You More Productive

If looping thoughts tend to run your day, and you often feel overwhelmed or overworked, you’re not alone.

I just got back from a family getaway + found myself feeling this way the very next day!

When resistance shows up like this, keep in mind that it’s really just your ego trying to run the show, figure it all out ahead of time and keep you mentally busy.

So what’s a multi-tasking actor to do?

It’s at moments like this, when getting still will actually help you become more productive.

It almost seems illogical to stop what you’re doing, especially if your to-do-list is a mile long (like mine often is).

But, I’ve been amazed at the solutions, creativity + miracles that begin to appear when you take a break, quiet the mind + let go of how you think it all should go.

Yes, believe it or not, as you make finding stillness a daily practice: Solutions will appear. Creativity will soar. Miracles will happen.

As you find stillness, you’ll begin to feel the layers of physical, mental and emotional resistance peel away + dissolve.

Here are some helpful mindset mantras to get you started….

Just start with some deep breathing as you repeat the following declarations to yourself silently or out loud….

With every inhale, I allow my body to feel nourished and replenished, and with every exhale I surrender + let go + deepen my trust.

(Go ahead + internalize this idea on your next breath.)

(Do you already feel more relaxed? I hope so.)

In my stillness, I realize I am so much more than what I have, than what I do + how others perceive me.

(Do you see how your ego wants you to think otherwise? Keep going.)

I am pure, positive energy.

I am energetic light.

I am unconditional love.

I am magnificent.

This is my true self.

My true self is the embodiment of unconditional love at its core.

This is who I can return to be at any time.

From this stillness, infinite possibilities are present.

From this stillness, I can create the life I desire.

From this stillness, I am connected to all things, people and experiences.

(I hope you’re feeling a deeper connection to your heart and your true self.)

This is just one way of finding stillness, and ultimately, it’s about finding a daily practice that works for you.

Whether you do a silent meditation, go out in nature + smell the flowers, or use a guided meditation (like the ones I create for actors) try finding stillness every day this week.

When you make finding stillness a daily practice, you might be amazed at what begins to show up more easily + effortlessly.

My wish for us all is that we use mindfulness to become more productive by working smarter, not harder.

    1. Thanks Michele. I strive to keep it real, and make it fun, and help actors create #LessStruggleMoreFlow. I realize most coaches teach you to get “busy doing more.” But that approach often backfires and keeps you in a state of lack, and worry and well, exhaustion. So cheers to listening to your heart + knowing within when something feels right. Listening to that intuition will always lead you in the right direction. Best of luck!
