Did you know that first few minutes of your morning can effect the tone of your entire of your day?
Does your day start with checking your phone before even getting out of bed? Do you start reacting + responding to email requests + social media posts even before getting dressed? (Yes, I’ve done it too!)
Unfortunately, we are all trading this very valuable time of day for other people’s agendas.
If checking Facebook sends you into a jealousy tailspin + makes you feel defeated before you even try, then why begin your day that way?
“Every morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.” – Buddha
What if, instead, you took a moment for yourself?
What if you began your day with a morning ritual of stillness + silence as you set your intention for this brand new beginning?
This simple practice of choosing your focus will help you jump-start your day with a dose with positivity + self-acceptance.
Checking Facebook from your pillow may not.
What if you could wake up each morning trusting in the bigger picture of your life, whether you have auditions, callbacks, jobs or absolutely nothing going on?
Creating a morning practice can serve as a reset button for your body, mind + soul. Here are a few:
1) Write in a journal.
2) Take a walk in nature.
3) Meditate (even for 5 minutes).
4) Visualize yourself going to bed feeling proud of all you’ve accomplished today
5) Declare that you will look for the good today – in yourself + others.
When you begin your day with any (or all) of the above practices, you become a deliberate creator of your own life.
“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive
— to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.”
– Marcus Aurelius
As you become more aware of your own power, the power to choose your thoughts, words, actions + focus for this day, you will also notice how this ritual will begin to effect the daily interactions you encounter. Life’s demands will become easier to handle.
Making an empowering morning ritual a daily practice will help you stay open to receiving + inspired to take action on impulses + creative ideas.
It all starts from the moment you wake up. Treasure this sacred time + treat every day as a brand new beginning.
Here’s to starting every day with intention + clarity. You may just end up being more productive than ever before + a lot happier along the way.

well, today i started by reading this post.
🙂
Hi Wendy! I start my day by reading something spiritual. Also having my hot water with lemon. 🙂
That’s awesome Pamela! Your hot water with lemon inspired me to commit to that BEFORE the coffee! (See my comment to Tony below!) 😉
Thanks for sharing!
Best,
Wendy
So glad that you’re sharing this, Wendy. Like many others, I used to dread mornings. I slept in as late as I could, checked my email first thing, then would slowly ease into the chaos of my day. After hearing advice such as this, I’ve started to change things up. I started the day with exercise. I put off checking email and facebook until after breakfast.
Today, I LOVE mornings because of my new routine! I journal, exercise, read from a positive book during breakfast, and only THEN do I check email or my phone. I truly believe anyone who learns to enjoy a morning routine like this can get out of the normal, “I’m tired and need coffee before talking to anyone” habit. =)
(Note: I have no issues with coffee as part of ones morning routine)
Thanks Tony! So glad you have experienced these concepts for yourself in a powerful way. It’s pretty amazing how much energy we can access when we engage in an empowering morning routine. And, sure, I’m all for coffee, maybe after a glass of water with lemon! 😉
Best,
Wendy
