It was summer 2024.
This version of me didn’t know she was about to return home from a week-long meditation retreat in Cancun and record a self-tape the very next day that would change everything.
She had no idea she was about to book Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat.
She didn’t know she’d be playing the villain.
She didn’t know she’d end up on the Emmy FYC ballot for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
She didn’t know about all the incredible people she’d get to work with or the response, press and opportunities that would follow.
This version of me was prioritizing slowing down, taking time for herself, finding the good in her life right now and trusting in the future she could not yet see.
She was simply being in the present moment and not needing one thing in her external world to change before she allowed herself to feel better.
Before my circumstances changed, my state changed.
I spent so many years believing I’d feel peaceful after the next milestone… after the next opportunity… after the next booking.
The version of me who recorded that self-tape wasn’t happier because something incredible had just happened.
I felt lighter because I had
stopped tethering my happiness
or worth to the next achievement.
That shift changed everything.
So many of us believe we’ll finally feel happy…
…when we book the job.
…when we meet the partner.
…when the money comes.
…when the dream arrives.
But what if peace, joy and fulfillment arenโt the reward?
What if theyโre a necessary part of the path?
The version of me standing on that beach had no evidence that life was about to change.
She simply chose not to let her current circumstances define her, derail her or defeat her.
Instead, I realized something much more powerful.
The peace I was searching for wasn’t waiting on the other side of the next dream.
It was available to me all along.ย
It’s not lost on me that this is exactly when the right things found their way to me.
I felt calm, fulfilled, and joyful.
And it wasn’t because life suddenly changed.
It was because I had stopped looking to
my circumstances to tell me how to feel.
I didn’t stop caring about my dreams.
I just stopped believing I needed them to arrive before I could enjoy my life.
And hereโs the simple truth I want you to hear todayโฆ
I still need this reminder.
Whenever I catch myself overthinking, forcing, or worrying about what’s next, I come back to the same practice.
I slow down.
I breathe.
I put on my Creating Success While You Sleep meditation before bed.
It’s a simple way to reconnect with who I want to be instead of reacting to what’s happening around me.
So, if you’re in a quiet season or you feel unseen…
Don’t allow your current circumstances
to define you, derail you or defeat you.
Take a breath.
Find the good in your life right now.
Trust in the future you cannot yet see.
And above all…
#KeepGoingSunshine.
Love and Gratitude,
Wendy
P.S. If today’s message spoke to you, I’d love to share the same guided meditation I return to whenever I need a reset.
Creating Success While You Sleep has become my nightly ritual and one that thousands of people around the world have made part of theirs, too.
The last few minutes before you fall asleep are some of the most influential of your day. Instead of replaying stress or worrying about tomorrow, use those moments to reconnect with possibility.
I hope it becomes one of your favorite nighttime rituals, too.
