In the rush and noise of our busy lives, from the alerts on our phones, our computers, social media to all of the daily requests + interactions (not to mention the mid-term elections in the U.S. and the holidays drawing near), we must take time to create a feeling of calm amidst the chaos.
Our minds want to stay busy defining who we are, evaluating what we’ve done, adding meaning to events, and then letting us know (sometimes all day long) how we are falling short.
It is in finding stillness within + calming the chaos in the active mind, that your true image is reflected back to you.
It is in that stillness that your intuition is accessible, tension is released, and well-being abounds.
Best-selling author, (known as the first lady of yoga), Indra Devi explained it like this
“Like water which can clearly mirror the sky and the trees only so long as its surface is undisturbed,
the mind can only reflect the true image of the Self when it is tranquil and wholly relaxed.”
It is our restlessness that causes chaos
It is our reaction that dictates our experience.
Lao Tzu states, “To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.”
Which is why taking this time to create stillness will guide you back to feeling calm amidst chaos.
I hope you take time every day this month to quiet your mind and open your heart.
What the world needs now more than ever, are those who consciously respond to others from a more loving space.
You never know what might unfold from stillness and kindness. Practice both this week.
Leave a comment below + tell me how you create a feeling of calm amidst chaos?
Here’s to a wonderful week ahead.
Love + Gratitude,
-Wendy
1 thought on “Staying Calm Amidst Chaos”
For me to get calm, I need to talk it out or be active. And then, when I’ve talked and let it out, I feel the heaviness off of me. I disconnect from the world and my phone and I just be. I don’t do it for as long as I should, but I try.
