I’m writing this at 1am after watching The Oscars. I actually had another post all ready to send out when I sat down with my husband at 10pm (after getting our kids to sleep) to finally watch our TIVO’d version of the show. I told myself I wasn’t going to turn my computer back on.
Then I heard Matthew McConaughey’s speech.
It resonated with me so deeply that I had to write about it + urge you to watch it. He talked about 3 things he needs every day: something to look up to, something to look forward to and someone to chase.
What struck a chord in me most was when he said, (talking about God, which I refer to often as The Universe) that “It’s a scientific fact that gratitude reciprocates,” how he looks forward most to his family and that his hero is his future self, 10 years from now, someone he can look up to, but an ideal that he’s “never gonna beat.”
Gratitude, family + a vision of your expanded, future self. What a perfect recipe for living an inspired life.
Hearing Matthew’s speech, in some way, was a sign for me that I, too, am on the right path, as an actress, as a mother, and as a creator of everything I write + record to help uplift + inspire actors.
I hope this week that YOU will look for signs all around you that say “you are on the right path.” And I know they often come when you least expect it, but have your eyes and ears open, ready to receive.
Here’s to a month of gratitude + aligning with your future self….maybe the one that gives an acceptance speech one day at The Oscars. It IS possible.
