We are all on the quest for happiness.
In fact everything you want, is because you think you will be happier when you have it.
Whether it is a role, a relationship, a Range Rover, or a raving review of your work.
Deepak Chopra states,
”The purpose of life IS the expansion of happiness.
Happiness is the goal of every other goal.”
And yet, throughout your day, do you ever notice how easy it is to pick things apart (including yourself), notice what’s not working, what you haven’t done yet + fixate on complaining about the big + even the little things?
I know I have.
So if our quest is to expand our happiness, why do we spend so much time feeling unhappy?
To understand ourselves, we have to become consciously aware of our thoughts, words, + habits. Then, we must learn how to shift them.
You might not even be aware that complaining has become your default mode of operation.
So what can you do to shift from finding fault to expanding your happiness?
The first step is to become more mindful.
The act of mindfulness will help train your subconscious mind to perceive + appreciate more of the amazing blessings, beauty + bounty that are in your life on a daily basis.
Here are 10 acts of mindfulness to get you started….
1) Get out in nature.
2) Play with a child.
3) Marvel at the ocean.
4) Watch snowfall.
5) Lay in the grass.
6) Sit quietly in your home.
7) Listen to a guided meditation.
8) Quiet your mind.
9) Breathe deeply.
10) Count your blessings.
I know it seems almost easier to book the job, get the rave review, enjoy the relationship + even drive the Range Rover (or whatever car you choose, I was going for an “R’ theme here) to bring you happiness, but you don’t have to wait until those moments to experience a shift in your joy.
Your happiness can be found today, right here…in this present moment.
And when you shift the chronic habit of complaining to appreciating, you might just be amazed at what (and who) starts showing up in your life + career.
Try making every day this week complaint-free, while also adding an act of mindfulness to your daily routine.
I love hearing from you. Let me know in the comments below what act of mindfulness you’re going to commit to today.
Here’s to a week of expanding your happiness from the inside out, one mindful, complaint-free moment at a time.

I plan to take a walk today while learning lines for an upcoming showcase scene. Then, I’m going to continue walking, being more attentive to my surroundings.
Question re complaining. Do you think there’s a difference between complaining and venting your feeling about something legitimate?
