This past Saturday was #WorldMentalHealthDay. Honestly, I think mental health should be celebrated every day and not something we shine a spotlight on just once a year.
In fact, everything I write + create for actors is always done with the intention of helping you achieve greater mental health, inner peace + ultimate fulfillment on the way to achieving all of your dreams.
Ok, so I know this year has been a roller-coaster ride for all of us in different ways.
Maybe youāve felt great one day, and been in a funk the next?
Perhaps youāve gone from feeling productive to procrastinating…in a matter of minutes?
I get it and Iāve been there. Iāve definitely had up and down moments, days + weeks this year. Throw in political debates, social injustices + 8 months of a global pandemic, and well, it makes sense that our mental health has been challenged + tested.
But hereās what Iāve noticed, especially with all of the turmoil + uncertainty going on in the world…
If you are waiting for the outer conditions to change to determine how youāre going to feel on a daily basis, you will always feel powerless, because there is always going to be a condition that doesnāt please you.
When you begin the day reacting and responding to the news or social media, itās easy to then turn against yourself (or even those around you) and focus on how youāre somehow failing or worry about what you havenāt accomplished yet.
So how do you take your own personal power back?
How do you boost your mood + create a compelling future?
Remind yourself that no matter what happened yesterday, last week or last monthā¦.
āWhat we do today is what matters most.ā – Buddha

So, this is your chance to begin again, and use this week to reset, recharge + renew your own commitment to your own mental health.
What has been working for me this past week is by beginning the day filling up my own cup, before I give to othersā¦mentally, emotionally, physically + spiritually.
Here are 3 things I do daily to manage my mental health, boost my mood and R.E.V. up my energy. And yes, of course, itās an acronym to make it easy for you to implement it too.
1) Rise early.
Begin this week by getting up an hour before you normally do. See it as a gift you give to yourself, before you check your phone, social media, emails, and react to others, give yourself some sacred time to tune inward.
By taking the time, first thing in the morning for yourself, youāll find it easier to operate from a space of grace, gratitude + groundedness throughout your day.
2) Exercise
Moving your body releases endorphins that will chemically boost your mood for the rest of the day.
Even going for a 20 minute walk, and noticing the beauty in nature will help you feel better, as well as let go of a mind full of thoughts and instead become more mindful + present with whatās right in front of you.
3)Visualize
I know that visualizing a positive future might feel difficult in challenging times, but that is exactly when we need it most. Being able to hold the vision in your mind of things being better than they are now, and then leaning into that vision daily, is how you create a new reality.
In fact, visualizing consistently over the last 20 years has been a key component in creating a career and life that I love, even when I felt frustrated, disappointed and discouraged.
Hereās a visualization mantra that may help:
“What I visualize must materialize. If I hold it in my heart, visualize it in my mind, let go of it from my grip, and take inspired action, this or something even better will find its way to me.ā
What has also helped thousands of actors so far, has been downloading my free guided meditation āEasing Anxiety + Improving Well-Being.ā
It will help you take the guesswork out of meditation + visualization, as I guide you to choose peace over panic, one mindful moment at a time.If you donāt have it yet, download it here + add it to your morning routine.
Or if you want a new guided visualization each month (along with live coaching + personal mentoring with me), check out my VIP membership community, The Spotlight Club here.
Youāll instantly have access to all my favorite visualization tools as well as this monthās audio is āTrusting Your Intuition + Expecting Good Things.ā It will help you tune inward to what your heart wants + create the mindset that helps you bring it to life (even when the world seems crazy + uncertain).
No matter how you get there, I hope youāll make your mental health a priority this week and rev up how you begin each day.
And know that no matter what darkness you face right now, I hope youāll find ways to lean to the light.
My husband captured this pic after a self-tape (yes, the first time I did my hair + makeup all week), when I just sat outside with our sweet rescue dog and enjoyed a moment watching the sunset in our backyard.
After spending decades running and doing and achieving, Iām finding so much more joy, peace + fulfillment in savoring where I am today, becoming more mindful + noticing whatās right in front of me.
Donāt get me wrong, Iām still going for big dreams (and theyāve evolved over the years), but Iām having a lot more fun taking in the life I have created along the way.
How about you? Let me know in the comments here below, what are you savoring these days + what are you doing to manage your mental health?
Hereās to a week of rising early, moving your body + holding the vision of the life you want to live.
I will hold the vision of you thriving too.
Love + Gratitude,
Wendy
