The Biz Is Back! (A Free Gift To Get You Ready)

The biz is back!  On Friday, June 12th, here in California we got the green light that production can resume after the COVID-19 shutdown.

I know that my amazing community of actors are all over the world, but now that Hollywood production is slowly returning, that’s a good sign that other cities may get back to work in the coming weeks + months soon too.

I want to celebrate by sending a free gift that will help you to compete at the highest level in our “new normal.”

One thing every actor must be ready to rock? The Self Tape.

I know so many actors who are feeling overwhelmed with all they have to think about in order to submit a pro-level self-tape that really stands out.

It’s definitely not the same as simply walking into a live audition.

Of course you want to give your best performance, but now you have to make sure the sound, lighting, framing and other technical aspects are at a top professional level too.

There’s definitely a lot of noise out there right now on what to do and what not to do, and so I decided to put together one simple checklist to make it easy to deliver self-tape success.

Every. Single. Time.

I created this Self-Tape Success Checklist and I wanted you, my loyal reader, to be the first to have it, for free!

You can download your Self Tape Success Checklist here for free (no opt-in required).

Here’s a sneak peak at all you’ll need to cover to deliver awesome self-tapes (and of course, I made it into an acronym).  (more…)

What To Do When You’re Not Feeling Good

With all that’s going on in the world right now (and especially in the U.S.), I hope you know that it’s okay…to not feel okay.

For me, when I’m not feeling good, I make it my mission to tune inward before taking action.

I’ve realized that taking emotional inventory before jumping into circumstances that don’t feel aligned to me is the key, but it takes conscious awareness.

Our emotions serve as an important internal guidance system, and when we take the time to process what we’re feeling and why, we are able to make better decisions.

So, if you’re feeling unsteady, uneasy or unhappy today, listen to that, honor it and allow yourself the space today to then do what feels best to you.

You may discover that doing the things you “said you were going to do today,” just don’t feel good.  Maybe it all feels heavy right now.  And that’s ok.

You might need a break.
You might need a good cry.
You might need some time to simply process your emotions.

And all of it is okay.

Today, I’m sharing a personal story of something that happened recently, and how “not okay” I felt in the moment and what I did about it.

Click below to watch the quick video…

I hope this helps you to know that it’s okay to not feel okay. (more…)

⭐Wellness Gifts For You (+ Featured in Variety)⭐

I hope you are finding ways to ease any anxiety + improve your well-being during this time (and that you remember, there’s no “one way” to do this).

It’s been amazing to hear from so many people who are listening to my 15 minute free guided meditation. “Easing Anxiety + Improving Well-Being” + telling me “I felt better after 15 minutes of listening to your audio, than I had in weeks.”

This is music to my ears, especially in the midst of all that is going on in the world.

Download + listen to it here.

And if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, before you attempt another week of getting “busy doing more,” download my “Well-Being To-Do List”

This will serve as a quick reminder (and perhaps the permission slip you need) to reevaluate, recalibrate + redesign your life to make what matters most to you the main priority.

It has always been my mission to help actors thrive through uncertainty, and now, more than ever, I’m aware that taking care of our own mental health + wellness, must be at the top of our list.

Once you begin your day in ways that empower you (and have tools to realign your mind), you’ll actually feel better and even be more productive.

I’m thrilled to see that this mental health + wellness message is expanding throughout our community + the world.

I’m honored to be featured (alongside Arianna Huffington) in Variety + wanted to share the news with you here too.

It’s part of an ongoing series from entertainment industry insiders, and if you scroll down on this volume of the Corona Chronicles, you’ll find my featured piece.

Thriving Through Uncertainty

I know how easy it is to want the external conditions to change, so we can feel better.

And I know how much uncertainty is prevalent on the planet right now + we all feel it.

Uncertainty in the world (or in our acting careers) can make us feel unstable or unsure of the path ahead and even confused about what direction to take on any given day.

And all of this unsteadiness may bring up fears within us. I get it.

But what if we looked at our fears differently right now?

In this video, I’m sharing my best tips for thriving through uncertainty.

What if fear was simply an alert that you’re just out of alignment with your highest self and you’re allowing your mind to run looping thoughts?

What if fear is arising because you are starting to believe those looping stories as true?

What if it’s possible to be thriving through uncertainty? (more…)

3 Steps For Feeling Good + Getting Stuff Done (Even Homeschooling)

A quick shout out to all the beautiful mothers out there – Happy (Belated) Mother’s Day!

I am giving you a virtual hug to you today for all you are, all you give and all you do.  (And you’ll love today’s video, because I’m sharing my 3 step system I use at home to help homeschool my kids without all the meltdowns (for myself and them).

And if you’re not a mom, you’ll find that today’s video will help you to set your day up in a way that makes you feel good and gives you the motivation to get stuff done.

If you have lost your mom, I know that Mother’s Day (and any day) can be tough.  I lost my mom 10 years ago, so I get it.  I know that your mother’s light shines through you and I do believe that when you think of her, it’s because she thought of you first.

If you’re an actor who is thinking “can I really have a career and a family?” I’m here to tell you 100%…YES.  It requires an awesome partner, a calendar, flexibility and a sense of humor (for starters), but it is possible.

I do remember being pregnant with my first son, though not showing yet, and after a day of multiple auditions, I came home, cried on the floor + said to my husband, “How on earth am I going to do this when I have a baby?”

Like everything uncertain (pandemics, acting careers, motherhood) you will figure it out as you go.

Finding Solutions In Challenging Times

I’m keeping it short + sweet today, since I know your inbox (and your brain) might be overwhelmed with incoming messages, offerings and more “should do’s.”

Today’s tip will help you tune into the solutions you are seeking.

I know this has been a stressful time for everyone, and that you may be facing a lot of challenges right now.

But I also want to remind you that within every challenge, arises an even bigger solution.
(And your solution is not to get “busy doing more,” which just creates more angst + exhaustion)

The solutions you are looking for are not in your angst, they’re in your alignment.

So, throughout your day today, instead of worrying about what other actors are doing right now, and adding more to your plate, give yourself permission to pause. (more…)

Productivity Tip That Will Change Your Results Fast…

Have you been feeling really distracted lately?  Yep, me too.

With so many messages, opportunities and offerings coming our way these days, it’s easy to get overwhelmed (and get nothing done), while simultaneously feeling like you “should” be doing more.

So, today, I want to share a simple productivity tip that’s been helping me this past week and will change your results fast (especially if you’re having trouble focusing).

Your Well-Being To-Do List (Printable Gift For You)

I’m so glad last week’s post helped so many of you turn the “should do’s” into “could do’s” and serve to let go of the guilt or shame of “not being more productive.”

Read it here:
How To Let Go Of The Guilt Of Not Being More Productive (During A Global Pandemic)

This theme (and your response to it) got me thinking about how so much of our worth + value has been tied up for so long in what we produce, what we do, and what we accomplish.

Many of us have spent years hustling, and being “busy doing more” to show ourselves (and anyone we think might be watching) that we are of value.

Even in our world of “show-business,” it really is all about show.  When you book a job, it seems the minute you wrap, everyone wants to know, what’s next?  What do you have to “show” for yourself?

But now that the world has essentially “stopped all the doing,” and our industry is on a global pause, it’s given each of us a time to re-evaluate how we perceive ourselves + even redefine what success truly means.

Does success mean being productive to the point of burnout + overwhelm?
Does success mean splitting your energy in a million different ways?
Does success mean hustling + being everything to everyone?

What if you used this time to think about where you were putting your energy, how it was (or wasn’t) serving you + how you can reshape your life moving forward.

And for those of you who love a good to-do list, I thought I’d put one together for your well-being.

When you align with the inner knowing that you don’t have to be productive to be of value, you can then choose activities, people + projects that light you up, instead of using any of it to prove your worthiness.

Thank You…(A Love Letter To My Tribe)

I’m flying home today from an amazing weekend in Vancouver + my heart is filled with so much gratitude.

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday in the US this week, I want to give thanks for you, my friend.

Because of you, I have learned that serving + helping others fuels my soul.

Because of you, I have learned that what you give out comes back to you in wonderful ways.

Special Note:  Comp tickets for my Live Masterclasses are now available for Atlanta, New York, Toronto, and we’ve just added London, all in January!
