I’ve been practicing daily gratitude this month, and not only do I feel better, but it’s definitely opened up a doorway for more good things to come to me easily + effortlessly.
I invite you to do the same, beginning right now.
The key for me has been not doing so to “make something happen,” but instead because it simply feels good to focus on the good.
And the extra benefit is that I’m also training my brain to criticize less, find fault less + complain less.
And what has been happening? I’ve had new bookings, been invited to be a podcast guest on one of my favorite shows, and last week, I became a GIF!
If you haven’t heard, I’m back for Season 3 of Atypical, which I’m thrilled report, was the #1 binge-watched show on Netflix last week. (Our show beat “Friends,” which took 2nd place).
This role (that started out as a few short scenes in Season 1), has now turned into a three season recurring role, with multiple episodes, fun story lines, and lots of matching sweater sets. (Can you tell I love playing the uptight but well-intentioned, Kathy, always going head-to-head with Jennifer Jason Leigh?)
I couldn’t be more grateful to be part of a show that promotes inclusion, spreads autism awareness, and is filled with laughs, love + compassion.
A few weeks ago, I guest starred on Season 2 of Liza On Demand, with Kevin Nealon playing my boss. The show has now over 70 million views on YouTubeRed, check out the funny episode here.
Last week I was invited to speak on a panel at SAG-AFTRA about balancing career + family. I loved sharing tips + stories on how you can absolutely manage both + the lessons I’ve learned along the way. I ’ll share the video link once it’s ready so you can watch from anywhere in the world.
Then last night I attended a screening of a hilarious feature film that I star in with Danny Trejo called Donny’s Party. I’m sharing the link below to the story of how my cold read turned into booking the lead.
And tonite is the premiere party for Season 3 of Atypical which is released this Friday, Nov. 1 on Netflix. I feel so grateful to be returning for my 3rd season of this awesome show.
Then in the spirit of helping others, tomorrow and this Sunday, I’ll be teaching actors “How To Have A Success Breakthrough.”
Both events are completely sold out, but I have 2 more dates in Los Angeles before the end of the year. And then, I’m coming to Vancouver in November and many other cities in January.
If you want to see me in person, grab your comp ticket now, since these events fill up fast, and the guest lists will be closed.
I’m beyond thrilled to share some exciting news with you…
I am in the running for an Emmy® nomination for my work on Atypical (Netflix).
For Your Emmy® Consideration:
Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series
It’s been so much fun to return to this amazing show each season + play a character who tries so hard to keep it all together, while things around her are falling apart (especially while getting my “jai-ho” on in a Bollywood dance workout).
I sometimes think letting go is the hardest part of what we do as actors.
Letting go of an audition when you know you did your best and you hear nothing.
Letting go of a callback when you made them laugh but you don’t book the job.
Letting go of how you think the scene should go, so you can be present in the moment.
Letting go of how you think your career should go, so you can be open to what’s meant for you.
Then, there’s letting go in life. This past week we had to let go of our beautiful (more…)
To manifest anything in your life, whether it is a relationship, a thing, an experience, or even a next level role, you must do this one thing first:
You must be able to imagine it.
Look around you right now.
Everything you see (even the phone or the computer that you are reading this on) first began as an idea in someone’s imagination.
They didn’t just think about it once and forget it. They gave their devoted attention to bringing their vision to life.
And it all began with the imagination – (hint: this is the actors’ greatest tool!)
Yet sometimes we can create a character more easily than we can create our own success.
But here’s the good news:
“Your imagination is able to do all that you ask in proportion to the degree of your attention.” – Dr. Wayne Dyer. Here are 7 questions to discover what degree of attention you are giving to your desires… (more…)
Have you been facing tons of rejection lately? Have you allowed it to devastate you? You’re not alone.
As actors, collecting the “no’s” should be part of our job description, and yet no one really teaches us how to do that without getting defeated.
Whether it’s not booking the job, not getting the callback or not getting signed by an agent, all of the rejection can chip away at your confidence.
It’s your ability to not allow any of these experiences to turn into a negative belief about yourself that really is the key. That really is it. It’s how you handle all the rejection, without letting it devastate you, define you or defeat you that will ultimately determine your success.
So don’t take one experience of rejection and allow it to define who you are + what will or won’t happen in your career.
Your thoughts become beliefs, and you get to (more…)
How do you start your day when you have an audition?
Do you speak lovingly to yourself, or are you filled with worry, doubt or fear?
How you begin your day, is usually how you live your life. Since every thought you think is creating your experience, it helps to be mindful of what you are telling yourself. We are all using affirmations all day long, the question is, are you affirming the positive or the negative?
You’ll know by the way you feel.
Choose To Change It
If you don’t like how you feel, change your thoughts.
When you start to change your way of thinking, your inner voice will always react immediately with either fear or love.
But what if you used a different criteria for responding to your habitual internal dialogue?
Try this: “If it feels good, it’s true for me. If it feels bad, it’s a lie.” What are you affirming on your audition days?(more…)
Memorial Day in the United States, is a day to remember the sacrifices that brave men + woman made to bring freedom to this country.
Growing up as the daughter of a Navy veteran, I was taught to have immense gratitude for the freedoms that we so easily take for granted.
My late father was a World War II Air-Sea Rescue pilot who helped to save those who were shot down in the Pacific Ocean. He was a hero to many, and especially to me. I lost him when I was 27.
When I volunteer in my son’s kindergarten class, I can barely get through The Pledge Of Allegiance without tearing up. Seeing a group of 5-year-olds embody joy, love and freedom, so purely, gives me hope for our future.
I BOOKED TWO ACTING GIGS IN THE SAME WEEK BECAUSE I HAD HER CD ON REPEAT!
"I listen to Wendy's guided meditations pretty much every chance I get. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have her amazing voice in my ear keeping me empowered, inspired + in the right mental space to persevere day in and day out. I booked two acting gigs in the same week because I had Wendy's Creating Powerful Auditions album on repeat. Thank you WENDY for your positivity + light!"
I'VE TURNED A SLOW STREAK INTO A BOOKING STREAK AND I FEEL REALLY EMPOWERED.
"Wendy is so generous with her knowledge and understanding of the deeper, inside work that goes into living a healthy, happy, well balanced actor life. Her daily inspirations mean so much to me...and I'm grateful for the custom guided meditation she wrote for me. I've turned a slow streak into a booking streak & I feel really empowered."

YOUR AFFIRMATIONS ALLOWED ME TO STEP OUT OF THE FEAR AND BE PRESENT IN THE ROOM.
"I just returned from an audition after listening to your guided meditations. Your affirmations allowed me to step out of the fear and be present in the room. As I waited for my audition I envisioned the session being successful and feeling empowered afterward. And it was and I did."
SINCE LISTENING TO YOUR GUIDED MEDITATIONS, I BOOKED 2 FEATURE FILMS
"I bought Creating Powerful Auditions and I listen to it every morning. "Empowering Myself" is my absolute favorite meditation, sometimes I put it on repeat until I fully and truly feel every declaration. Since I've been listening to your guided meditations I booked my first feature film + also recently booked the lead role in my first horror film. Thank you for coming into my life!”
I BOOKED THE JOB! LISTENING TO CREATING POWERFUL AUDITIONS MADE A DIFFERENCE!
"Been listening to your "Creating Powerful Auditions" mp3 daily since purchasing about a week ago. Listened to it on the way to an audition...took a few moments before leaving my car to do the visualizations. I walked into the audition room feeling totally empowered, feeling light. I booked the job. I feel your album made a difference. Thank you, Wendy."
YOUR CREATION IS...VERY POWERFUL, IT CALMED ME, PREPARED ME & FOCUSED ME + I BOOKED JOBS.
"Since I began using your guided meditations I have now, in only a few months, booked up an entire year of work. Your creation is truly a blessing + very powerful. Before every audition I have done recently I have listened to at least 3 of your tracks and it has calmed me, prepared me and focused me."
